SCHINKENGIPFEL
(HAM CROISSANT)
This ham croissant is flaky on the outside and savory on the inside, made a perfect snack anytime of the day or appetizer for any gatherings. Inspired by one of her childhood favorites growing up in Switzerland, Lilian has recreated this recipe to be free 7 of 9 major food allergens without compromising the yumminess!
Yields:
30-36 pieces
Ingredients:
1 package (2 sheets) frozen puff pastry, defrosted
6-8 slices black forest ham, cut into about 1/2" squares
1-2 teaspoons olive oil
Italian seasoning
Black pepper
Oat milk - to replace 'egg wash'

Directions:
- Preheat the oven to 450 degrees F. Place a piece of parchment paper on a baking sheet.
- Cut 1 sheet of puff pastry into half and then cut into 6-7 triangles. Lay puff pastry on a floured countertop or board and carefully roll it out.
- Place about 4-6 pieces of ham at the bottom of triangle and roll it up. Brush the tip of the triangle with oat milk and press the tip gently to close up the roll.
- Place each piece on a baking sheet and brush the top evenly with oat milk.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, until puffed and golden brown. Allow to cool for a few minutes on a cooling rack and serve hot or warm.
- Serve as is or with a choice of dipping sauce such as Mae Ploy (sweet chili sauce).
- Can be reheated in the oven or toaster at 450 degrees F for about 5 minutes when needed.
